Meet our Team :

Joseph C. Reyes |President

Mr. Reyes started his career in the insurance industry as a Claims Assistant at TransPacific Lines in 1974 then he transferred to Micronesian Insurance Underwriters (MIU) as an Assistant General Manager. In 1974 , he was privileged to attend the Asian Institute of Management (AIG sponsored) in Manila, Philippines. He returned back to the CNMI after completing his courses and continued employment with MIU assisting in opening up agent in Palau, Yap, Pohnpei and the Marshall Islands.

In January 1978, Mr. Reyes decided to join the military ,active duty and was stationed at fort Benjamin Harrison , Indian. After ending his service with the Army, he was recommended by SSGT. Jim Womack to work for the first Equity Security Life as a Financial Planner. Passing the All Lines State Insurance Exam a requirement at First Equity Security Life and he succeeded, therefore he was issued a Certificate of Authority by the State then followed SSGT. Womack and was employed by Sears Life, now known as AllState Insurance the he returned to the CNMI in 1984.

In 1986 , he Incorporated Pacific Basin Insurance Inc. an Insurance Agent. He was initially contracted with GrandPacific Life of Honolulu. HI and in a short time thereafter, was appointed a General Agent by Sunset Life out of Olympia, WA. He was also fortunate to be appointed as a Direct Sales Coordinator with AFLAC other companies Mr. Reyes represented were Hartford Life and Prudential Life.

In the 1990’s he incorporated, he joined a team on investor from Guam incorporating National Pacific Insurance (NPI) of Guam. He assisted in establishing branches in the FSM , Palau, the Marshall Islands, and in the CNMI. He the became the Chairman of NPI CNMI and Pacific Basin Insurance extended its line of insurance to include Property & Casualty.

In 1999, he converted Pacific Basin Insurance from an Insurance Agency to an Insurance Company, Writing Auto, Fire, & Allied lines, and Property & Casualty Lines. He Instrumentally obtained a Quota share Reinsurance Agreement thru CBD underwritings in Australia, associated with syndicated of Lloyds of London in the UK. He also placed a Special Acceptance coverage , All Risk policies , including professional liability.

Mr. Reyes also attended several conventions in the US Mainland and was a member of the Indianapolis Life Insurance Association, General Agent & Managers Association, and the National Association of Life Underwriters.

Lolita dela Cruz | General and Operations Manager

Lolita, aka “Lou” has been working in the insurance industry for more than 30 years. Prior to joining Pacific Basin Insurance Company in January 2022, she worked for the American International Group (AIG) Philippines for almost 5 years and held the position of Assistant Vice President and Head of Casualty.   She also worked for several multinational insurance companies based in the Philippines and in Dubai, UAE.

Lou has a  Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines. In addition, she holds  a Senior Associate Diploma in General Insurance from the Australian  and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF). She was a member of the Casualty Technical Sub-Committee of the Philippine Insurance and Reinsurance Association (PIRA) and also a member of the Society of Underwriters for Property & Casualty (SOUND) in the Philippines. 

Lina Arcilla | Accountant

Lina earned Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy from Far Eastern University , Philippines. She gained her license as a Certified Public Accountant, having passed the board examination administered by Professional Regulation Commission Philippines in 1983. She also earned units up to junior years of Bachelor of Laws at Adamson University , Philippines. She attended seminar and trainings in Project Management, Structured Systems Analysis, Tax , and Rural Banking Courses. She has an aggregate of over 35 years work experience. Prior joining Pacific Basin Insurance Company in October 2013, she work as Internal Auditor in banks, an Accountant, and as Assistant Vice- President for the Finance and Business Administration of a computer software company.

Christine Unay | Underwriter

Christine started her career in the insurance industry as an Administrative Assistant and as time goes by she gained knowledge on various aspect of how insurance industry works and became an Insurance Underwriter. She has an aggregate of 17 years of work experience . She took a little break and returned to the insurance industry as an Insurance Policy Processing Clerk with Pacific Basin Insurance Co.

Rose Marie Dlg. Reyes | Manager, Sales and Marketing Department

Rose , aka “Rosie”, started her career in the Insurance industry recently when she first joined Pacific Basin Insurance Company in March of 2021.

Mariano Mendiola | Claims Adjuster

Mariano , aka ” Noi” , started his career with Pacific Basin Insurance Co. in November 1989 as an Insurance Clerk. Since then, he has worn many hats as a Collection Agent, Assistant Claims Adjuster.
